It may rain on Christmas Day this Sunday.

PAGASA is monitoring a Low Pressure Area (LPA) which will enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday or Friday.

Weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio says, the LPA may develop into a severe tropical storm with maximum sustained winds of up to 95 kph near the center.

It has no direct effect on the country’s weather at this time.

Rains to be brought about by the weather disturbance will be felt beginning Christmas eve or on Saturday, December 24.

As of now, the LPA is located 1,800 kilometers east of Mindanao.

It will be named ‘Nina’ once it develops into a storm.

The LPA threatens Bicol and Eastern Visayas and may cross Southern Luzon and Visayas.

The expected storm will leave PAR on Monday night or Tuesday morning.
