President Rodrigo Duterte has signed into law the measure that postpones the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections on October 31 this year.
This was announced by Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Assistant Secretary Ana Marie Banaag in a press briefing in Malacañang.
Banaag says, Duterte already signed the enrolled bill that Congress sent before he left for his foreign trips.
The bill states that both the Senate and House of Representatives have agreed to reset the elections to October 23, 2017.
The measure postponing the Barangay and SK elections is the first law signed by Duterte as the country’s president.
