PAGASA has raised Signal Number 2 in Camarines Sur and Catanduanes due to Tropical Storm ‘Karen.’
Signal number one is up over Camarines Norte, Albay, Sorsogon, Quezon including Polillo Island, Aurora, Isabela, Quirino, Laguna, Rizal, Marinduque, Burias Island and Northern Samar.
The weather bureau says, ‘Karen’ may develop into a severe tropical storm within 24 hours.
At 11 am Friday, the weather disturbance was located 260 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes.
It packs maximum sustained winds of up to 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph.
‘Karen’ is moving at 9 kph westward.
On Sunday, the storm is expected to be in the vicinity of Quezon and Casiguran, Aurora.
‘Karen’ will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday noon.
