President Rodrigo Duterte has given cash assistance to the victims of the explosion at the night market in Davao City on September 2, 2016.

P 250,000 worth of aid were handed to the families of the 15 victims who died and to the 11 victims who were severely injured in the blast.

Duterte explained, he gave the same amount to the families of those who were killed and those who were severely injured since the victims who were left disabled by the blast will have a hard time resuming their work or seek new sources of income.

"I treat them (those who were seriously injured) as equal to those who died, because it would take them time before they can work again or to find a livelihood," he said.

The President also gave P 100,000 to 21 survivors who also sustained injuries.

The money comes from the President’s Social Fund.

In trying to give comfort to the families of those who lost their lives in the attack, Duterte said, “we, Christians, are always taught that God decides on the fate of every man. It is really destiny. If it is your time, it is really your time.”
