Bulusan volcano placed on Alert Level 1

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has placed Mount Bulusan in Sorgogon under Alert Level 1.

This comes, after the volcano spewed 1.5-kilometer high dark gray ash column.

Phivolcs describes the activity as a ‘phreatic eruption’ that lasted for 280 seconds at 4:54 pm on Friday.

Alert Level 1 means residents are being reminded to avoid entering Mt. Bulusan’s 4-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone.
