President Rodrigo Duterte intends to establish rapport and good relationship with United States President Barack Obama.

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said this in a press conference in Malacañang on Tuesday.

He is referring to the meeting between the two heads of state that will take place during the summit of leaders from Pacific Rim nations on September 6 in Laos.

Expected to come up during the meeting are issues on human rights and security concerns in the South China Sea as well as President Duterte’s controversial remarks against U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Philip Goldberg.
