Senate has began on Tuesday morning the deliberations for the proposed P 3.35-trillion proposed national budget for 2017.

In her opening statement, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Loren Legarda said, she will be “transparent and consultative” as she reviews the proposed budget.

Present in the budget hearing are members of President Duterte’s economic team led by Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno, Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III, National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary General Ernesto Pernia and Bangko Sentral Governor Amando Tetangco Jr.

The Development Budget and Coordination Committee (DBCC) made a presentation to the senators on the projects that will be funded by Executive Branch next year.

Dominguez describes the proposal as Duterte administration’s “Budget for Real Change,” one that follows the goal of President Duterte to end insurgencies and organized crime during his term, while decreasing the poverty rate by boosting investments.
