Luzon’s power supply placed on red alert

The power supply in Luzon has been placed on red alert from 11 am until 3 pm on Saturday.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) cites zero operating reserves as reason.

Inadequate electricity supply has supposedly brought about the situation.

On Saturday morning, NGCP reported that it had available capacity of 8,321 megawatts while the peak demand was 8,117 megawatts.

As a result, all areas being serviced by Meralco are also on red alert.

The power distributor also raised the same alert level last Friday.
