Honda is set to regain lost glory with the recent launching  of its iconic Civic sedan, which is  bruited about as  more technologically advanced and powerful.

On  Tuesday's  big bash for the iconic car held at  the Makati Shangri-La hotel, Honda Cars Philippines Inc   executives led by its president and GM Toshio Kuwahara  unveiled the 10th generation Civic, with an RS VTEC-Turbo fed variant ready to take on the competition.

With styling cues inspired by the “Revolutionary Silhouette Advanced Neo Sedan” exterior design concept, the current generation Civic boasts a sporty design  punctuated  by  its low and wide stance, sleek and swept back bodylines and sharply defined character lines that give  the current iteration a coupe like stance.

The Civic Modulo is an upgraded version of the Civic.

Its bold front fascia is complemented by Honda’s signature LED lighting, which includes full LED headlights, and LED daytime running lights. The unique and distinctive C-shaped LED tail lights further emphasize the car’s sporty demeanor. “The car is an engineering marvel in terms of aerodynamic efficiency,” Kuwahara said.

Under the hood of the new Civic is a DOHC VTEC Turbo Engine that delivers a maximum torque of 22.0 kg-m at 1,700–5,500 rpm, and a maximum power output of 173 PS at 5,500 rpm. HCPI retains a 1.8 liter engine option for the  new Civic which produces a maximum torque of 17.4 kg-m at 4,300 rpm, and a maximum power output of 141 PS at 6,500 rpm. The All-New Civic is powered by engines that boast a powerful driving performance with uncompromised fuel efficiency.

These engines are mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) developed under Earth Dreams Technology, Honda's bid to churn out environment friendly cars.

Rear tail lights give away the Civic’s sporty nature.

The RS Turbo is also equipped with paddle shifters for a sportier driving performance. Harmonizing with the aggressive sporty design of the new Civic is an interior that defines modern refinement. The Civic  is equipped with  dynamic and wide cockpit design integrated with high class soft-touch materials. The RS Turbo Variant gets leather seats, steering wheel, and shift knob.

The  new Civic has its full compliment of safety features that includes driver and passenger SRS airbags (with side and side curtain airbags for the RS Turbo), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Multi-view Reverse Camera with Dynamic Guidelines, Seat Belt Reminder, ISOFIX and Immobilizer. The All-New Civic also gets an Electric Parking Brake (EPB), which replaces the conventional pedal or handbrake lever with a single button or switch. The Auto Break Hold (ABH) incorporated in the EPB provides more convenience in different driving situations.

The top-of-the-line variant, the Civic RS Turbo has a sticker price of P1,398,000  while the  Civic 1.8 E I costs P1,088,000. Deliveries take effect in June.
