Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya—Secondary students and local officials here were recently oriented with transportation and traffic laws and regulations through the Land Transportation Office and FCF Minerals Corp.
The Road Safety Information Campaign benefited close to 300 schoolers of the Kasibu National Agricultural School and barangay captains who were attending the joint meeting of the Municipal Peace and Order Council and Municipal Anti-Illegal Drugs Council, chaired by Mayor Romeo Tayaban.
Lorenzo Tuddao, transportation and regulations officer of LTO regional office in Tuguegarao City said road crashes serve as the major cause of death and injuries among drivers of motorcycles and cars in Cagayan Valley.
He attributed the road crashes on the violation of following laws and regulations such as the Anti-Drunk and Drugged, Seatbelt, Helmet, Distracted Driving and Children’ Safety Laws.
“These are the reasons why we are also conducting an intensified information campaign to empower our transport sector on the prevention of road crashes in the region,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ian Moller, FCF General Manager for Sustainability, said the IEC campaign will also be conducted to the youth and schoolers of Quezon National High School and Runruno National High School.
“This will also reach out to the 17 barangays as communities covered by our Social Development and Management Program (SDMP),” Moller added.
FCF operates the Gold-Molybdenum Project in Barangay Runruno in Quezon town.
