With the whole world watching, ONE Flyweight World Title contender Danny “The King” Kingad plans to put on no-less than a winning show at ONE: CENTURY on 13 October at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.

The Filipino takes on 12-time Flyweight World Champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Championship Final.

The 23-year-old Baguio City native passed all his tests in the star-studded eight-man tournament with flying colors, which resulted in a dream match with one of the best mixed martial artists in history.

Though Johnson comes in as the favorite, and rightfully so, Kingad believes that he has a few tricks up his sleeve for “Mighty Mouse.”

“I am young, strong, and really motivated to win. I have character, and that’s what I’m bringing to this match against Johnson,” Kingad shared.

“My focus is different for this match. I’m not just doubling my effort, I’m tripling it. I respect Johnson because I know the experience he brings to the table and he’s one of the greatest of all time.”

Carrying an impressive win-loss slate of 11-1, Kingad has dominated almost all of his opponents so far in his young martial arts career.

In his last match, Kingad got the golden ticket to the finals after scoring a split-decision win over former World Title challenger Reece “Lightning” McLaren in the semifinals of the tournament at ONE: DAWN OF HEROES in Manila on August 2.

Aside from his youth and uncanny athleticism, Kingad believes that his training in the mountainous terrain of the highlands will also play a factor in this match.

“Discipline is very important, particularly heading into this match. For me, training here in the mountains of Baguio will be huge for me. It has played a big role in my victories in the past,” Kingad said.

“The high altitude and the tough terrains are the best environment for athletes. I know it will be big against Johnson.”

That being said, Kingad cannot wait to put on a show for fans at the historic venue in Tokyo. He is completely engaged to get the win and get his second shot at the ONE Flyweight World Title currently held by Adriano Moraes.

“I’m really motivated to win this match. A lot of things are at stake and you can see that when we train,” Kingad shared.

“It’s been two years since I started climbing the flyweight ladder, and this is the final test for me. Also, I want to be the first Asian to beat DJ.”

ONE: CENTURY is the biggest World Championship martial arts event in history. No organization has ever promoted two full-scale World Championship events in one day.

The Home Of Martial Arts breaks new ground as 28 World Champions compete in multiple World Title bouts, three World Grand Prix Championship Finals, and several World Champion versus World Champion matches at the famous Ryogoku Kokugikan on 13 October in Tokyo, Japan.

In the meantime, watch ONE Championship’s next event, ONE: IMMORTAL TRIUMPH, on ABS-CBN S+A at 9:30pm PHT.
