Right in time for this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival, scheduled on September 13, Hong Kong’s MX Mooncake is now available in select locations in the Philippines, for a limited time.
MX Mooncakes, officially Hong Kong’s bestselling brand of mooncakes for 21 years, offers a variety of this richly dense and sweet delicacy. The classic Lotus Seed Paste Mooncake with two yolks has remained the brand’s bestseller since it was launched in 1987. It was recognized as a Hong Kong Top Brand in 2003, it also received the Hong Kong Brand Top Ten Year Achievement Award in 2012.
Special variations are also available, such as reduced sugar series, mixed nuts series, yolk series, and the fan-favorite and first of its kind lava and custard mooncake series.
MX Mooncake said each mooncake is meticulously created to match the traditional palate of its consumers, while revolutionizing the industry with new whimsical flavors.
As deeply woven into the culture as the mooncake fest is, the brand, also known as “mooncake royalty,” upholds this authenticity by preserving its seal of excellence through a stringent security check and authentication.
The first pop-up store opened on August 20 at SM Mall of Asia. A second pop-up at Unimart Capitol Commons will begin selling boxes of mooncakes on September 1. Both stores will be opened until September 22.
Each customer at the Mall of Asia pop-up will get a chance to play a dice game with each purchase at the booth. They can also win a mini mooncake with a single receipt purchase worth P5,000.
To meet the market’s demands beyond their physical stores, Hong Kong MX has partnered with Lazada to serve two select flavors for delivery until September 22. The first 100 customers will be able to get free shipping and every order with a single receipt worth P5,000 will garner them an additional mini mooncake.
Prices for a box of four of the Lotus Seed Paste, White Lotus Seed Paste, and Classic Mixed Nuts variants range from P1,800 to P1,850.
Reduced sugar variants of the Lotus Seed Paste with Egg Yolk and White Lotus Seed Paste with Pine Nut are priced at P2,000 per box of six.
Meanwhile, the Lava and Custard series are retailed at P2,000 per box of eight. Both products have won gold medals in this year’s Monde Selection International Quality Awards.
Lava mooncake comes with a molten salted egg, best served freshly heated. The Custard variant is sweet and creamy.
