The annual EDDYS Awards or Entertainment Editors’ Choice returns to its home at the New Frontier Theater in Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City.

Seasoned broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez-Roxas hosts the third edition of The EDDYS on Sunday at the New Frontier Theater.

The premier performing arts venue hosts the third edition of The EDDYS on July 14, Sunday, 8:00 p.m., with seasoned broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez-Roxas as the master of ceremonies.

Celebrated diva Kuh Ledesma is among the guest artists who will perform. 

The awards show will be powered by the performance of artists such as Kuh Ledesma, Ice Seguerra, Aicelle Santos, Gerald Santos, Rayver Cruz, Lara Maigue, Bituin Escalante, Rita Daniela, Hashtags’ Rayt Carreon, Jem Cubil and Andrea Babierra, Sean Oliver, Both of Us (BOU), RJ dela Fuente, Acapellago, and Raket Manila Dancers.

In partnership with Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), led by its chairperson and CEO Liza Diño, the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) will pay tribute to the illustrious career of EDDYS Icon awardee and 2019 best actor nominee (Rainbow’s Sunset) Eddie “Manoy” Garcia.

The EDDYS 2019 will also pay tribute to the illustrious career of EDDYS Icon awardee and 2019 best actor nominee (Rainbow’s Sunset) Eddie “Manoy” Garcia.

Among the nominees in the Best Picture category are Citizen Jake, Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral, Liway, Rainbow’s Sunset, and Signal Rock.

In the Best Director race, Chito Roño (Signal Rock), Jerrold Tarog (Goyo), Joel Lamangan (Rainbow’s Sunset), Kip Oebanda (Liway), at Mike de Leon (Citizen Jake) are vying for the coveted award.

Up for the Best Actress plum are Angelica Panganiban (Exes Baggage), Glaiza de Castro (Liway), Gloria Romero (Rainbow’s Sunset), Judy Ann Santos (Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes), Kathryn Bernardo (The Hows of Us), Nadine Lustre (Never Not Love You) and Sarah Geronimo (Miss Granny).

Piolo Pascual (Ang Panahon ng Halimaw), Carlo Aquino (Exes Baggage), Christian Bables (Signal Rock), Daniel Padilla (The Hows of Us), Dingdong Dantes (Sid & Aya: Not a Love Story), and Paolo Contis (Through Night & Day) are competing for the Best Actor trophy. 

Apart from the major acting and technical awards, six special awards will be given out during the big night: The Joe Quirino Award will be handed to TV-radio host-columnist Cristy Fermin; Manny Pichel Award will be given to entertainment columnist and talent manager Ethel Ramos; Rising Producers’ Circle will be awarded to Spring Films and T-Rex Entertainment; Producer of the Year will go to Star Cinema; Lifetime Achievement Award will be received by Elwood Perez; and a recognition will be given posthumously to the late Comedy King, Dolphy.

Carrying on the tradition of paying tribute to movie stars who have made an indelible mark in the industry through their significant bodies of work, this year’s Icon Awards will be conferred upon Amalia Fuentes, Tirso Cruz III, Christopher de Leon, Joseph Estrada, Eddie Gutierrez, Anita Linda, Dante Rivero, Celia Rodriguez, Vilma Santos, and Lorna Tolentino. 

As SPEEd joins in the celebration of the 100 years of Philippine Cinema, the group will also honor some of the industry’s “unsung heroes” who work behind the camera.

Juancho Trivino and Arra San Agustin will man the red carpet for pre-event interviews with guests and nominees.

Some of the honorees are Tommy Abuel,  Tony Mabesa, Pepito Rodriguez, Perla Rodriguez, Lorli Villanueva, Robert Arevalo, Rustica Carpio, Val Campbell, Lucy Quinto, Romy Peralta, Romy Vitug, Vic Delotavo, Armida Siguion- Reyna (posthumous), Val Iglesias, Rosa Rosal, and Odette Khan.

This segment of the awards night will be anchored by TV host-journalist Lourd de Veyra.

Meanwhile, Kapuso artists Juancho Trivino and Arra San Agustin will be the red carpet hosts.

Produced by Echo Jham Entertainment, led by director Calvin Neria, the EDDYS 2019 is presented by Cignal and will be telecast on Colours Channel on July 21, 9:00 p.m.

Tickets to the EDDYS 2019 will be available on a first come, first served basis at the New Frontier Theater box office on July 9, 10, and 12, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Only two tickets per person is allowed. Nickie Wang
