Eleven partner-homeowners of Unified Compound Homeowners Association, Inc. in Caloocan City can now call themselves landowners as they received their respective transfer certificate of title from the Social Housing Finance Corp.

Held in Maligaya Park Subdivision in Barangay Camarin on May 3, the awarding ceremony was led by Emma Lintao, NCR North Operations-Loan Administration Division’s OIC-Chief, and Joan Enriquez, Supervising Account Specialist. They were joined by team members from the Legal Department and the Strategic Communications Division.

Headed by Dominador Derrada, Unified Compound is composed of 33 partner-homeowners and boasts a collection efficiency rating of 286.88 percent as of February 2019.

The title awardees, who have fulfilled their respective loan obligations to SHFC, are now part of the more than 310,000 families who have received security of tenure since the launch of the agency’s flagship initiative, the Community Mortgage Program, in 1988.

Herminio Lacasandile Jr., one of the awardees, was elated to finally receive his own land title after more than 20 years of religiously paying his monthly amortization.

“We’re so happy because we won’t be called squatters anymore,” he said. “We are now legitimate landowners.”

CMP aims to improve the living conditions of low-income families by providing them affordable financing scheme in which they can borrow as a group to purchase the land they occupy or would like to relocate to.

SHFC, currently helmed by Atty. Arnolfo Ricardo Cabling, is the lead agency assisting underprivileged communities to secure land tenure through shelter financing and development solutions by Building Adequate Livable Affordable and Inclusive (BALAI) Filipino communities.
