Julia Barretto anticipates collapse of love team with Joshua Garcia

Nothing lasts forever. This is Julia Barretto’s mantra when it comes on onscreen pairings popularly known as love teams.

According to the 22-year-old actress, she and perennial screen partner Joshua Garcia are prepared in case their love team collapses in the near future.

“I guess, it will be for the betterment of our respective career. For one, we will achieve growth in our craft as actors. Of course, I’ll forever be grateful to the JoshLia team-up. It has done great things for our career. But we are aware that we can’t be a love team forever,” she avers.

“Being in a love team has its perks. It can take you to places in which you will also grow. You will learn a lot of things and you will be forever thankful for the experience. But you can’t depend on that for the rest of your career,” she carried on.

Both Julia and Joshua know that sooner or later, the time will come when they will do separate projects.

“We’ll be paired with other actors. When it comes, we will respect such development because we both love our craft. We have respect for this profession. We respect the fact that it’s what’s best for us, for our growth and we should support it,” she affirms.

Speaking of a new leading man, the pretty lass has Gerald Anderson for a screen partner in her latest potboiler titled Between Maybes. Many are curious how she told Joshua about this.

“Honestly, it took me sometime before I confirmed it to Josh. I wanted to make sure first who the actor would be. So I waited and once I found out, I broke the news to Josh. He was very okay with the fact that it’s Gerald. He was happy that I’ll get paired with someone who is a couple of years older than I am. He prefers it than someone who’s my same age.”

Curiously, does she really need to seek the approval of Joshua when it comes to her career moves, like doing intimate or love scenes?

“You know, one thing that I’ve learned from my mom is that as long as you’re still in control of your life, whether it concerns your personal state, your friends, you don’t ask anybody for permission. If you feel like it’s going to do you good, go with your gut and instinct. It’s actually more of not asking permission, you inform the person out of respect,” says Julia.

Anne Curtis is happy to announce that she and good friend Vice Ganda are collaborating for a movie project that is intended for the upcoming 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival.

“Both of us are glad that we’re doing a project together. And it’s for the MMFF! Isn’t it thrilling?”

This early, the lovely Kapamilya says that at the back of her excitement, she’s also nervous at the same time.

“The material is something that people are not used to seeing me appear into. It’s a different genre. It’s comedy. If you will check the movies I did last year, they were all serious stuff. So this time, it’s going to be a challenge,” she says.

“But it’s good that I’ll be with Vice. Everyone knows it’s his turf. I will be safe in his hands, so to speak. Vice knows how I feel and he assured me to just be relaxed,” she adds.

Anne feels that the project is timely in celebrating her decade-long friendship with the Phenomenal Box-office Star.

“It’s also the tenth anniversary of It’s Showtime, right? It’s like everything is falling into its proper place. Actually, Vice told me that he first talked to Boss Vic (del Rosario) of Viva before informing me.”

Many are asking if she is concerned with their movie’s box-office result. Especially that all of Vice’s entry at the annual MMFF are certified top-grossers.

“I don’t want to get affected. I don’t want to be under pressure. Actually, I’m always asked that question whenever I have a film that’s going to be shown. People would ask me if I’m nervous about the film’s box-office success. Personally, I think that more than anything, especially now that the film industry is fast moving, what really matters is that you’re doing potboilers and are able to bring happiness to the viewers. Having a box-office hit is just a huge bonus,” ends Anne.
