The Gin Kings (6-3) can lock in the third seed should they earn their fourth straight win when they play Meralco (3-7) at 7 p.m. today in a marquee match at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

In the initial offering, Alaska (4-6) and NorthPort (3-6) figure in a virtual do-or-die affair at 4:30 p.m. as the result of their tussle will determine their respective fates moving forward.

Peaking at the right time slowly but surely, all Ginebra needs to do is to win at least one of its remaining two games to ensure itself a third-seed finish and a best-of-three series in the quarterfinals.

The Tim Cone-coached Gin Kings will head to its tiff against the Bolts with a lot of momentum, having won three straight.

They produced a satisfying 105-96 victory over NLEX in Pampanga last Saturday.

On the other hand, Meralco is battling for survival as it needs to win to keep its small hopes of entering the next round.

The Bolts can still keep their chances of forcing a playoff alive if they can manage to win.

For the Aces and the Batang Pier, it’s simple. It’s win or go home.

The team who will come out on top can move a step closer to securing a spot in the quarters while the loser is virtually done, more or less.

At the moment, the Aces are hanging on to the eighth and last ticket to the quarters but need a strong finish to stay there.”‹
