It was the perfect timing for Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand to return to Manila 30 years after the brand closed its doors, according to Hilton Manila general manager Simon McGrath.

A MUCH-ANTICIPATED RETURN. Hilton brand returns to Manila, adding 357 more rooms to Resorts World Manila.

“The [Philippine] economy is bouyant, tourism is generally going in the right direction, and we’re optimistic,” McGrath told the media during the official launch of Hilton Manila, citing the over 7 million tourists the country welcomed in 2018.

Hilton Manila finds a new home within the Resorts World Manila complex, adding 357 more rooms to the integrated resort which also houses other international brands such as Holiday Inn Express, Maxims, Marriott, Savoy, Sheraton, and the soon to open Hotel Okura.

Since the hotel’s soft opening five months ago, McGrath said they “enjoyed brisk trade better than we anticipated” partly due to its location within the Newport City.

“One of the things we’ve certainly enjoyed very quickly is the connection to [NAIA] Terminal 3 via Runway Manila,” he said.

The upscale hotel enjoys a growing business traveler market, but it is currently mostly reliant on local “staycationers”—families and couples.

“We’re still establishing that there is again a Hilton in Manila so we’ve been very reliant on local staycation market. ‘Staycationers’ benefit from the different dining establishments here, seamless connection to Resorts World,” explained McGrath.

He added, “With this beautiful hotel and facilities, it has become very much the talk of the town.”

The hotel features an elegant art deco style, espousing the timeless elegance of the 1920s which are evident in the guest rooms and suites, as well as in public areas.

Hilton Manila is the first hotel in the Philippines to have the Digital Key or keyless entry—an innovative feature that can be accessed exclusively via the Hilton Honors app.
