Fil-Am beauty guns for back-to-back victory at Miss Eco International

Model and events host Maureen Montagne will compete against more than 60 representatives from around the world at the 2019 Miss Eco International pageant in Cairo, Egypt where reigning queen Cynthia Thomalla of the Philippines will crown her successor.

Twenty-four-year-old Montagne, who was born to a French father and a Filipino mother, grew up in Chandler, Arizona, USA. She was crowned Miss Arizona USA and finished as Top 15 finalist in Miss USA 2015. 

 Filipino-American Maureen Montagne is a pageant veteran having competed in Miss World America (2017), Miss USA (2015) and Mutya ng Pilipinas (2013). It's her first time to compete on the international stage representing the Philippines. 

Montagne moved to the Philippines after graduating with a Marketing degree. She won first runner-up in Miss World America 2017 and emerged the grand winner of Century Tuna Superbods 2018 before bagging the Miss Eco Philippines title at Miss World Philippines 2018.

“It’s my first time to compete on the international stage. I’m so excited to finally show what I have, and I’m confident of doing well in the pageant,” said Montagne during the send-off at Novotel Manila in Araneta Center attended by Miss World Philippines 2018 Katarina Rodriguez, Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2018 Alyssa Muhlach Alvarez, and Miss Multinational Philippines 2018 Kimi Mugford with Miss World Philippines National Director Arnold Vegafria.

Montagne, who will wear a sultry red evening gown designed by Benj Laquiab for the finals and gowns by Edwin Uy for the preliminary events, has toughened up physically and mentally to prepare for the competition working out via yoga and light cardio, taking brief study of Egypt’s culture as well as brushing up on Q&A skills.

She took classes in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical and hip hop, and has been dancing for the past 12 years. She will play the ukulele and sing “Kiss Me” by Sixpense None the Richer at the Talent Competition of the Miss Eco International.

Montagne, who is aiming for a back-to-back win, will have the luxury of visiting, with the other candidates, top destinations in Egypt including Azha resort in Ain Sokhna, Meraki Resort in Hurghada, Makadi Bay water park, Sahl Hasheesh in Red Sea, culminating in a visit at historical Luxor and a cruise on the Nile River.

The 2019 Miss Eco International pageant will be held at Almasa Capital Theater in Cairo on March 29.
