S&T-based partnerships in NRC meet

The National Resilience Council (NRC) recently held its biannual board meeting at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. Highlights of the meeting included discussions on the importance of the government and the private sector working together to be better prepared for and to respond to major natural disasters. Two significant agreements were also formalized during the meeting: the signing of the Partnership Agreement between NRC and the Bataan Peninsula State University, represented by its president, Dr. Gregorio J. Rodis; and the signing of the Pledge of Partnership by Ms. Rosemarie Rafael, president of AIRSPEED International.

The board meeting followed after the Pledge of Partnership was also signed by Department of Finance (DOF) secretary Carlos Dominguez III, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. and National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Socioeconomic Planning secretary Dr. Ernesto Pernia.

The National Resilience Council is a public-private partnership that aims to build a resilient Philippines through science and technology-based public-private partnerships, enhance internal capacities of local government units through evidence-informed risk governance and strengthen and sustain high-level collaboration between national government agencies and industry.

NRC’s major partners are SM Prime Holdings, San Miguel Corporation, Carlos P. Romulo Foundation, Manila Observatory, Ateneo de Manila University, Zuellig Family Foundation, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
