Coro San Benildo, the multi-awarded resident chorale group of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) encapsulates the extraordinary vocal prowess of its members in its debut album.

The self-titled record features 10 tracks recorded live from the choir’s outstanding performance in the recent 46th Florilège Vocal de Tours in France, where they bagged three citations: Third Prize for the Renaissance category, Third Place for the Mixed Vocal Ensembles, and the popular Audience Choice – Prix Du Public Award.

The songs are covers of “Caligaverunt Oculi Mei” by Tomas Luis De Victoria; “Jagdlied” by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy; “O Magnum Mysterium” by Javier Busto; “Mignonne, Allons voir si la rose” by Pierre de Ronsard and Guillaume Costeley; “Il Bianco e dolce cigno” by Jacques Arcadelt; “Tanzen und Springen” by Hans Leo Hassler; “Dumbele” by Rodolfo Delarmente; “C’est Fini La Comedie” by J. Palmer, K. Ricanek,  A. La Bionda, P. Delanoe, and Robert Delgado; “L’horizon Chimérique” by Gabriel Faure and Francois Branciard; and “Battle of Jericho” by Moses Hogan.

Coro San Benildo has participated in choral competitions in and out of the country, to include trips to Asia, North America, and Europe, where they garnered eight international distinctions including Champion titles in the Youth Choir Competition in the 70th Llangollen Musical Eisteddfod in Wales, United Kingdom; Folklore Category in the 1st Hoi An International Choral Competition in Vietnam; and 1st Sing ’n’ Joy Louisville International Choral Festival and Competition in Kentucky, U.S.A.

The group also bagged a number of top prizes in global stints such as the 54th Seghizzi International Choral Competition in Gorizia, Italy. 

The launch is set on Nov. 16 and 17 at the Vatel Restaurant, Hotel Benilde Maison De La Salle, with each CD priced at P500. Spectators may likewise enjoy a live performance from the award-winning chorale while indulging on a three-course meal for only P1,500. 

Proceeds from both the launch and sales will fund Coro San Benildo’s future endeavors such as continuous trainings, and worldwide competitions.
