Media company ABS-CBN Corp. said Wednesday it temporarily shut down two online stores, following a report of data breach of its online shopping facility.

ABS-CBN said it took down ABS-CBN Store (store.abs-cbn.com) and the UAAP Store (uaapstore.com) websites at 9:30 a.m.

It warned that personal information and credit card details of customers could have been exposed.

“As of this time, there are 213 customers who may have been affected.  However, the investigation is still ongoing,” the broadcast company said.

The network said the data breach incident was isolated only to the ABS-CBN Store and the UAAP Store websites and would not affect other ABS-CBN digital properties.

The company said it informed the National Privacy Commission about the incident and would work closely with them.

“We have started reaching out to all our affected customers. We also advise our customers not to give out additional personal and financial information to anyone who may be claiming to be an ABS-CBN representative. Should they have any questions or concerns, they may email ABS-CBNStore@abs-cbn.com,” the company said.

“We assure our customers that their privacy and the security of their personal data are important to us and we will take measures to prevent this incident from happening again,” ABS-CBN said.
