Phoenix agrees to freeze fuel price

Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Inc. said it extended the price freeze to gasoline and diesel products in their retail outlets located in areas declared under state of calamity.

Phoenix Petroleum is currently implementing the price freeze on kerosene and household liquefied petroleum gas in typhoon Ompong stricken areas as mandated by the Department of Energy Oil Industry Management Bureau.

“Phoenix Petroleum shall implement a price freeze for all products in all its stations located in areas which have been declared under a state of calamity. Heeding the call of the DoE, this is our little way of helping the public who have  been at the receiving end of the recent typhoon,” Phoenix vice president for external affairs Raymond Zorrilla said.

The Energy Department said it was optimistic that other industry players would follow Phoenix’s lead.

Phoenix Petroleum responded to the call of Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi on Tuesday to suspend this week’s implementation of oil price adjustments in areas declared under a state of calamity which were hit by typhoon Ompong over the weekend.
