While FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano sits comfortably as primetime television’s most-watched series, its lead star Coco Martin is set to hit the big screen with a project dubbed as the biggest collaboration  (between two celebrated stars) of the year.

Primetime King Coco Martin is outdoing himself by directing and acting yet again in an MMFF film entry.

After his directorial debut in Ang Panday in last year’s Metro Manila Film Festival, he is thrilled to direct yet another MMFF movie which would showcase his views of what big screen entertainment should be. His movie titled Popo En Jack: The Puliscredibles will be directed by Coco himself, again under his real name Rodel Nacianceno, while being one of the lead actors, too. He will share the billing with no less than Vic Sotto, and the phenomenal star, Maine Mendoza.

It’s a dream come true for Coco to work together with Vic Sotto in a project pegged as he biggest action-comedy film of the year saying that the he respects and idolizes the latter.

“This time, sa’kin yung konsepto, at the same time, nag-collaborate kami paano namin mas papalakihin. Paano mas pabibigatin yung action, at paano natin mas patatawanin ang ating mga manonood,” Coco told reporters at a recent event where he was introduced as the newest celebrity endorser of King Cup Sardines.

At the event where the latest TVC for the brand was unveiled, the Kapamilya actor gladly brushed elbows with the members of the press and the blogging community. The 36-year-old TV personality also shed light on the viral video of him and his Ang Probinsyano co-star Yassi Pressman, who were caught “kissing” in a tent off-cam.

The video spread like wild wife prompting netizens to speculate that there’s more to it than for the show.

“Magkatrabaho, magkaibigan. Hindi naman kiss yun, beso-beso lang yun. Alam mo naman syempre na kapag umaga nagbabatian. Nabigyan lang ng malalim na kulay. Kase syempre alam mo naman yung mga fans, nakakataba ng puso tinatangkilik nila yung Ang Probinsyano, yung tandem namin ni Yassi kaya nakaka-proud kase nagugustuhan nila,” he clarified.

The revival of their characters’ romance keeps viewers glued to the primetime show as netizens once again raved about the heartfelt scenes of the estranged couple.

In one of the episodes that aired last week, Cardo and Alyana reminisced their memorable times together, which made them both emotional as they also remembered their last moments with their son, who died in a bombing incident.

Cardo and Alyana’s funny and dramatic scenes are also a huge hit among viewers, with FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano hitting its highest national TV rating of 45 percent for 2018, according to data from Kantar Media. It is also a consistent trending topic on Twitter, with various memes of kilig moments from the series surfacing online.

With Ang Probinsyano’s continued success, MS Entertainment asked the primetime king if the show will still be on air even longer than what most people expected. Coco responded, “Hanggang gusto ng mga manonood. Hangga’t may kwento kaming maibibigay sa mga Pilipino, nandyan pa rin ang Ang Probinsyano.”
