SOME 1,000 southbound passengers of the Metro Rail Transit 3 were unloaded on Thursday afternoon after a technical problem was detected by rail officials.

The passengers were unloaded at the Ortigas Station at 1:17 p.m. due to door failure, the Department of Transportation said in a tweet.

The DoTr said the “passengers were loaded in the next train which arrived 6 minutes later.”

It added door failure might have been caused by “stress on door components which may be caused by leaning on the door or forcing it open.”

The DoTr reminded passengers not to lean on the door of the trains or force it to open.

It said the problem could be prevented with maintenance and replacement of door components.

On April 15, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade ordered the filing of charges against passengers who would force open or lean on train doors.
