Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada thanked Manileños for their unwavering support for his administration as he celebrates his fifth birthday as leader of the capital city today, April 19.

Estrada, who turns 81 today, said he looks forward to spending more birthdays as Manila mayor and noted he felt he didn’t grow old while serving his fellow Manileños.

“On my 81st birthday today, on this day of happiness and joy, I wouId like to wish all my kababayan in the City of Manila that may all our dreams come true,” said the Tondo-born former actor and President.

“This is the fifth year of my birthday celebrations that you are my partner and companion, and I will be grateful to our Lord God for the life, strength and goodness He continues to give your servant,” Estrada said.

He said he looks forward “to spending my 82nd, 83rd, 84th and 85th birthdays with you.”

“Your love for me, your strong support for me during the first and second elections amazed me. You, my kababayan, are a blessing,” the mayor added.

Every birthday, Estrada said, is a fresh start “for looking back with gratitude at the many blessings” of another year of service “to my beloved City of Manila.”

“I welcome this birthday as another chapter of my life dedicated and devoted to serving you and a time to thank you all,” he said.

His birthday wish for Manileños is “that we continue to love life and never stop dreaming that we may bring back the former glory of our City—the Pearl of the Orient Seas.”
