TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan—Barely a week after an 18-year-old male student hanged himself over tuition fee woes in Alcala, Cagayan, a 16-year-old female Grade 11 student jumped to her death from the fourth floor of FL Vargas College in Barangay San Gabriel here.
A screengrab of an amateur video circulating in social media shows a girl falling from the fourth floor of a school building. Police quoted sources saying the girl told rescuers nobody could help her solve her problem.
“You can’t do anything about my problems,” the victim reportedly said to a janitor who attempted to stop her from jumping.
Since January, this is the third case of suicide involving students in Cagayan, prompting the militant group Anakbayan to call for urgent action from school and government authorities.
