Bicycology salutes AFP riders

THEY soldiered on.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines has practically dominated the just concluded LBC Ronda Pilipinas—scoring a remarkable 1-2 finish in the team event that underscored the Filipino soldiers’ brave and relentless heart in any battle.

“I would like to offer a big salute to our brothers from the AFP, it’s a great honor to watch them in action outside the war zones,” said Eric Buhain. “Here’s a fervent hope to see more of our soldiers in sports doing what they do best, winning.”

Buhain, a multi-titled former national and Olympic swimmer, fully supported the Philippine Army team which placed second to Navy in the team event through his own Bicycology Shop.

Bicycology Shop owner Olympian Eric Buhain (center) and business partner John Garcia are shown with members of the Philippine Army during the awarding ceremony of the LBC Ronda Pilipinas. The Armymen, bankrolled by Bicycology Shop, finished runner-up in the team classification.

“It’s not that much, our sponsorship of the Armymen, but we gave them our full belief and moral support in the races. Watching our fellow Filipinos cheer for them during the races through the countryside of Luzon is another major win. Bicycology will be with them again next year, and hopefully we can get more partners to support not only our brave Army but also the other divisions of the AFP. We believe in honoring our soldiers and recognizing their dedication and sacrifices to this country more through sports,” added Buhain.

Buhain’s business partner John Garcia was equally proud and elated with the performance of the Army team which, with the promise of doing better and probably the title next year, will again bike for Bicycology.

Pfc. Cris Joven was the only member of the eight-man Army-Bicycology Shop, which claimed stage victory (Stage 3) in Pagudpud, but other members namely: Sgt. Alfie Catalan, Sgt. Merculio Ramos, Jr., Pfc. Marvin Tapic, Sgt. Alvin Benosa, Sgt. Reynaldo Navarro, Cpl. Lord Anthony Del Rosario and Pfc. Kenneth Solis had their own share in securing the runner-up feat in the team classification.

“Saludo ako. Sa simula pa lamang ’yung adhikain ng Philippine Army ay nakatuon sa pagbibigay ng dangal sa kanilang kapwa Armymen, karamihan ay napasabak sa mga kaguluhan sa Mindanao kabilang sa Marawi City. Grabe, bawat stage, talagang lumalaban. You can’t imagine how they endured sacrifices and hardship just to win the runner-up in team classification,” said Buhain.
