JUST when his career and NLEX’s run seem to have reached new heights in the 2018 Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup, Kevin Alas unfortunately received an unfavorable news.

The rising star guard of the Road Warriors is expected to miss the rest of the season after MRI revealed that his ACL was completely torn on his right knee.

Alas suffered the knee injury in the opening seconds of NLEX’s Game 5 tussle against Magnolia in their best-of-seven semifinals Sunday night.

Initially, Alas and the rest of his team hoped that the knee injury wasn’t serious.

However, they were all informed yesterday that Alas is lost for the remainder of the season.

Currently, the Road Warriors trail the Hotshots, 2-3, in the semis and are currently facing elimination.

As of this report, NLEX is fighting for its life as it hopes to force a deciding Game 7, while Magnolia hopes to book the last finals berth as the two are currently battling in Game 6.

Four-peat seeking defending champion San Miguel Beer awaits in their best-of-seven finale.

In Alas’ absence, NLEX coach Yeng Guiao expects veteran guard Cyrus Baguio and capable back-up Juami Tiongson to step up and fill the void left by the playmaker.

According to renowned athletic doctor George Canlas, Alas will miss at least eight months as he starts his recovery.
