Parenthood can feel overwhelming and nerve-wracking especially for first time moms and dads. But experts come to the rescue at Makati Medical Center’s series of free forums for parents and parents-to-be.
The Pregnancy & Beyond forum, which will be held starting March 24 and continue on every third Sunday of the month from April to November at MakatiMed’s Tower 2 Auditorium, will tackle insightful topics on caring for your baby and yourself—as a parent.
The forum will tackle “Preparing for the Big Day,” “10 Ways to be the Perfect Birthing Partner,” and “Relaxation Techniques (Water birth, Lamaze, Sayuntis)” on March 24. This will be followed by discussions about “Setting Expectations: A Guide to EINC (Essential Intrapartum and Newborn Care),” “Newborn Baby Care,” and “Breastfeeding FAQs” on April 21.
On May 19, join the forums on “Postpartum Blues,” “Immunization,” and “Breastfeeding Difficulties.” While the June 16 session will feature “Spotting Red Flags: Developmental Delays,” “Baby Sign Language,” and “First Aid for Babies.”
The second leg of the forums, featuring the same sequence of topics, will begin on July 21 and will run until Nov. 17.
Pregnancy & Beyond sessions welcome an average of more than a hundred attendees where all moms, dads, and their companions listen to lectures provided by experts. Attendees are also treated to special giveaways, product discounts, and raffle prizes. The series of talks is free and open to the public.
The series began in 2009; it is co-presented by MakatiMed’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Department of Pediatrics.
