A permanent solution to hair loss

PBA legend and current team manager Alvin Patrimonio was keen on finding a solution to regrow the hair on his head, so much so that he tried several treatments and oral supplements.

“I was losing my hair so I took medicines and applied topical treatments, but they didn’t work for me,” he relates.

According to studies, hair loss is one of the physical concerns that can threaten a man’s confidence. Male pattern baldness, after all, is much more severe in men than in women because it occurs faster and is not just concentrated in one area of the head. Men can lose it all at the crown, temples, and all parts of their head, leaving wispy strands that sometimes make the appearance even more awkward.

There are various solutions to regain one’s head of hair. Topical treatments and hair supplements, wigs, toupees, hair weaves, a hairstyle change, or shaving may help alleviate the problem and offer some hope. But none of these are truly effective, long-term, and permanent.

Having tried some of the aforementioned solutions with no luck, Patrimonio then tried a hair transplant procedure.

“To be honest, I am really afraid of surgeries. During my playing years, I refused to undergo any surgery,” shares the former basketball superstar. “But the people in MAXiM showed me how the procedure would go and showed me photos of their successful and happy clients, so I decided to give it a try.”

MAXiM Hair Restoration, a 13-year-old international hair transplant clinic established in New York City that opened in Manila in 2004, is the recognized expert on hair transplantation and other solutions to balding.

It offers hair transplant procedures, including the advanced no-stitch, no linear scar technique called Follicular Unit Extraction and the conventional hair transplant technique known as Follicular Unit Transplant. Both enable clients to grow back their hair via hair transplantation by harvesting hair from a donor area and placing hair grafts on the bald area.

“During the procedure, I was watching TV or playing with my cellphone. There was no discomfort at all. Afterwards, the post-surgery hair care routine was explained to me. It was easy and hassle-free—very easy to follow,” relates Patrimonio.

“Now, seven months later, I am really happy with the results. I no longer feel insecure when the TV cameras focus on me and I would definitely recommend it to my friends. The results are permanent. And the hair on my head is all mine,” he enthuses.

The hair clinic also offers Scalp Micropigmentation, a non-surgical method that produces a short buzz-cut look without the client undergoing an actual transplant.

MAXiM’s staff is composed of plastic surgeons and certified nurses.

“MAXiM is focused and super-specialized on hair restoration that’s why we do it well. The center specializes in MEGA Sessions where patients can get 4,000 hair grafts in just one visit instead of multiple visits. Prices are affordable,” says MAXiM director Mac Fadra.
