The parents of a four-year-old Korean boy who fell from the 39th floor of their family condominium unit in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig have broken their silence for the first time, explaining the pain they have gone through.

In an exclusive interview, the father and mother of victim Kim Do Young, who requested not to be named, denied there was negligence on their part.

“I, along with our househelp, was preparing our lunch when the incident happened [last Dec. 9]. There was no truth that my mother or husband was with us at that time,” the mother told the Manila Standard.

“I noticed my [four-year-old] boy was out of my sight for just a matter of two minutes or less inside our unit, prompting me to search every corner of the house, but we could not find him,” she added.

She said she did not expect the boy would climb their “two-feet high” window and would fall “accidentally.”

“The design of the window is not good enough to prevent a small child from falling,” she said.

She called on the management of Two Serendra condominium to come up with a better design of the window.

She, however, clarified the family does not have any plan to file a case or to seek any indemnification from the management.

“We just do not want a repeat of the accident,” she said.

Police said the victim fell from the 39th floor condominium of the building in front of SM Aura Premier.

The boy was rushed to the St. Luke’s Medical  Center-Global City but was declared dead on arrival.
