It is more than good. It is surpassing all the rest. An excellence in achievement. The superlative of well. And a model has many definitions. It is defined as a three-dimensional representation of a person or thing.
How do we pick the world’s best models? With a lot of pageants proliferating and started since time immemorial – it is a fact that the best of anything and everything stems from a pretty face, a mind filled with wisdom and other attributes of the personality itself.
More than just posing for a photographer or painter, a model is the sum total of beauty, intelligence, personality and the ‘it’ that goes beyond the eyes of the beholder.
This is what a new search wants to achieve and introduce as they search for the title of the World’s Best Models – Philippines.
On Nov. 14, Decisive Edge Integrated Media, Inc. launched the first, World’s Best Models in the country. The winners will represent the Philippines in Bulgaria. The categories are: Top International Model of the World (Senior Category), and Mr. and Ms. Teen Globe (Juniors Category). This is the first time that the Philippines has been invited to field in representatives for these competitions.
The Top International Model of the World is one of the biggest modeling competitions for male and female model across the world. It reunites models from different countries around the glove in a unique competition where models do not only compete for the title, but also have specific modeling activities, training and cultural activities.
World’s Best Models – Philippines encourages men and women in the modeling industry to develop confidence and realize their aspirations because Decisive Edge believes that when men and women feel confident about themselves, they are empowered to make changes and attain productive lives for them and their communities.
The people behind the competition, led by Jackie Maniquis and Sarah Gaerlan, President and Vice President of Decisive Edge together with ace fashion designers Edwin Uy and Dave Ocampo, say Decisive Edge Integrated Media, Inc. is an events management team, specializing in public relations, corporate communications, events management, production, as well as organizing beauty pageants and other activities for the fashion industry.
Pageant Project Executive Director, Edwin Uy, is known on the wedding and beauty pageant scene. He started as a fashion accessory designer in 1990 and ventured onto the clothes scene in 1996. He has gained a name among celebrities and beauty queens for his evening gown creations and has garnered awards for several beauty queens at international pageants for “Best in National Costume,” “Best in Long Gown,” and the like.
Dave Ocampo involved himself in fashion endeavors, starting as a freelance fashion stylist for GMA-7 and QTV-11. He has also showcased his collections in the Philippine Fashion Week from 2011 to 2015. He is known for his creations such as men’s wear, bridal gowns, RTW and swimwear. He is a co-founder of Designers Circle Philippines, a group of Filipino fashion designers whose vision is to bring forth Filipino fashion excellence, cultural promotion and social relevance.
One of the group’s visions is to be able to put up a scholarship foundation for poor but deserving and qualified models who cannot afford to go to school.
