Regal back on the MMFF block

After getting the surprise snub last year, the MMFF (Metro Manila Film Festival) execom and selection committees seem bent on appeasing mainstream producers like Regal Entertainment by passing their submitted entries to this year’s Christmastime Tagalog filmfest.

Regal is definitely back on the circuit with Haunted Forest, some kind of a sequel to a couple of years’ Haunted Mansion.

Regal’s version this year still belongs to the youth horror genre with the likes of Jane Oineza, Jameson Blake, Maris Racal, and Jon Lucas – all teen stars of ABS-CBN – playing the lead roles.

Regal has peppered the cast with what the industry refers to as “veterans” something to mean these actors have been around five or more years than the lead stars. Among them are Raymart Santiago and Joey Marquez. Also the film features newer actors like Jerald Napoles, Betong Sumaya, Myrtle Sarrosa, Miho Nishida, among others. Comedian Beverly Salviejo is also in the movie along with Fiona Yang and Kelvin Miranda.

Ian Loreños, a young filmmaker, directed the film. It is about the estranged relationship between a policeman (Santiago) and his daughter (Oineza) whose relationship gets no better when Santiago is assigned to a province. Oneiza hates being in the rural areas and there they face the challenge of coping with folk beliefs, including the dreaded “sitsit” that may strengthen or destroy her friendship with Maris, Jameson, and Jon.

Haunted Forest could be the surprise hit of the MMFF as, traditionally, audiences like to have a screamfest during the holidays.

Well, Regal knows what the audience wants, that is if it is playing its cards well in these times when movie tastes are a changing day in and day out.

NOT JUST YET.Heart Evengelista answers persistent question on when she's going to be a mom

Will Heart Evangelista be a mommy in 2018?

That’s the question many of her fans want answered when the New Year sets in on January 1, 2018.

But how can she prepare herself for motherhood when she’s busy gathering things up for a major art exhibit in 2018.

She said she has by now several pieces and is just trying to complete several more for the final number needed for the exhibit.

“When I came out with my first exhibit, I was extremely nervous. I didn’t want them to see me. I wanted them to see my soul. This is what makes my paintings more interesting. The realness of my life. And they loved it,” Heart said when she was interviewed the first time she put up her work on exhibit at the Ayala Museum. Then she moved her exhibit at Galerie Joaquin in San Juan City.

But her major achievement in art was when her work was displayed as the Love Marie exhibit at Chan Hampe Halleries in Singapore.

Now, apart from being one of the more sought-after painter she also does textile painting (she handpainted several gowns made by her friend Mark Bumgarber) and she paints on Hermes bags as well.

She also decorated by herself her new house (no one has really seen it on the whole although her friends have seen clips of what she has been posting on her Instagram account) and she said when it’s done and over with she will invite her friends to take a look at it.

At hindi na lang siya basta artist ngayon dahil naging matagumpay din ang pagpipinta niya sa mga Hermes bag at maging sa mga gown na gawa ni Mark Bumgarber.

This Christmas she will just be at home enjoying the fruits of her labor, kind of cliché but that is wha it is really.

"La Luna Sangre' lead stars Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla

It’s either fight or flight for Malia (Kathryn Bernardo) and Tristan (Daniel Padilla) this coming week after they discovered that they are

bound to be enemies in ABS-CBN’s hit action series La Luna Sangre.

It turns out the man marked with the cursed ink who Jethro (Dino Imperial) has been seeing in his premonition was Tristan, not Sandrino (Richard Gutierrez). The vision was again triggered when Tristan and Malia, who just admitted their feelings for each other, held hands.

Aside from this, Sandrino also revealed to Tristan that they are brothers and are connected by blood. The Supremo is determined to take Tristan to his side and together, rule the world.

Will Tristan embrace his fate and join the dark side? How will Malia accept Tristan’s real identity? Will they accept or fight their destiny?

La Luna Sangre airs weeknights after FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano on ABS-CBN and on ABS-CBN HD (SkyCable ch 167).
