THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency on Friday said P23.7 million worth of illegal drugs and expired controlled drugs have been destroyed in Davao City.

Director general Aaron Aquino said a total of 1,824.2 grams of shabu, 18,468.9 grams of dried marijuana leaves, four pieces of Ecstacy tablets, and assorted kinds of surrendered expired controlled drugs were burned in Barangay Ilang, Tibungco.

Judges Carlos Espero II of the Regional Trial Court Branch 9 and Rowena Apao Adlawan of Branch 13 joined the PDEA in the destruction ceremony of the drug evidence turned over by authorities.

“PDEA continues to regularly destroy illegal drugs right before the public,  allaying any misconception that these pieces of drug and non-drug evidence are being recycled or peddled back in the streets," Aquino said.
