West zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. said Tuesday it is spending P102 million for the laying of 1.2 kilometers of new secondary and primary pipelines in Pasay City to boost water pressure for 31,500 customers in Pasay and Parañaque.

The new 300mm to 600mm diameter primary lines run from the corner of Coastal Road and MIA Road to Ninoy Aquino Avenue in Pasay City.

Once completed by October, water pressure will increase from 7 psi (pounds per square inch) to 16 psi at Baltao, Pildera, and Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminals 1 and 2 in Pasay; and at Barangay Tambo in Parañaque.

“We continue to invest in improving the water infrastructure in the west zone because we have a commitment to sustain enhanced service levels for our customers,” Maynilad president and chief executive Ramoncito Fernandez said.

Maynilad is spending P382 million this year alone for the installation of new pipelines in Caloocan, Quezon City, Valenzuela, Las Piñas, Parañaque and Bacoor and Imus in Cavite province. Laying new pipelines has enabled Maynilad to bring potable surface water to previously unserved and under-served areas within its concession area.

The Maynilad water distribution system is the longest ISO-certified facility of its kind in the Philippines. It stretches from North Caloocan to Cavite province and delivers over 2,000 million liters of potable water per day to over nine million people.
