Performing Arts in Dance

The Bachelor in Performing Arts in Dance gears students for the 21st century world of dance, graduating individuals who will meet or exceed the prerequisites of the profession.

The Bachelor in Performing Arts in Dance aims to introduce students to the broad scope of dance career possibilities in a liberal arts setting and future graduate and/or advanced studies.

The Dance Program further increases the expertise of and individualizes the creative capabilities of prospective artists by sustaining progressive and innovative course offerings that have never before existed in local dance education. The goal is to produce artists who will meet or exceed the prerequisites of the dance profession.

In the intra-School of Design and Arts level, the specialized majors would enhance the cultural environment on campus through additional performances and workshops. The programs would contribute to the environment of a diverse student body by offering areas of study in the arts to a wider group of students and opportunities to view a high caliber of professional performances for the entire De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde student body.

Community outreach and education are integral to the Dance Program. Involvement in community projects is important to a dance professional. Community performances, lecture demonstrations in area public schools, and student on-site teaching are all part of the proposed degree program.

By diversifying the degree offerings and allowing students more choices for their undergraduate studies, the Bachelor in Performing Arts in Dance program will attract more students, including some who may aspire to continue on to Masteral in Dance Programs, a typical path for performing arts majors and another future consideration for SDA.
