Wounded troops back in Marawi City to fight anew

Soldiers previously wounded from Marawi City siege who have received treatment are returning to the conflict-torn city to battle with Maute terrorists once more.

Joint Task Force Ranao Head Brigadier General Ramiro Rey says, three hundred fifty six (356) wounded troopers are heading back to fight another day.

Over 900 soldiers have been injured in the clashes that began last May 23.

The siege has claimed the lives of 109 government troops, including policemen.

On Thursday, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) intensified its air strikes.

Tanks are also leading the attacks on Maute positions.

Fighting is happening at close range.

Some newsmen counted about eight bombs would fall and explode on the ground every 30 minutes during the height of the ongoing military campaign.
