“Gorio” may become a severe tropical storm

PAGASA warns tropical storm "Gorio" may develop into a tropical storm within the next 24 hours.

In a press briefing held at 11 am on Thursday, the weather bureau reported that the storm has slowed down while it is maintaining its strength.

Gorio will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon which will bring moderate to heavy rains over the western section of Luzon, including Metro Manila.

The rest of Luzon and Visayas will experience light to moderate rains.

The storm is currently located 615 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

It packs maximum sustained winds of up to 85 kph near the center and gustiness of 105 kph.

Gorio is forecast to move north-northwest at 9 kph.

The storm's diameter is 450 kilometers.

Gorio is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday.

PAGASA has not raised any tropical cyclone warning so far.
