The Navotas city government and the Manila Electric Co. have officially sealed their partnership to mutually promote their respective projects and programs for the benefit and greater interest of the city residents, who are likewise customers of the electric company.

The collaboration was sealed with a memorandum of understanding, where Meralco will provide electricity to projects identified by Navotas, establish and implement communication protocols during calamities, promote the use of renewable energy, and assist in the crafting of a five-year development plan for the city.

The electricity provider will also maintain the city’s streetlights; process queries, applications and concerns through a kiosk during the Navotas Foundation Day; and promote the city’s sports and youth advocacy through sports clinics with the Meralco Bolts, Meralco Power Spikers and Loyola Sparks.

On the other hand, Navotas will ensure acceleration of customer service connections, expedite payment or settlement of the city’s unpaid electric bills, and promote public safety and prevention of electric pilferage.

“Navotas is one of the smallest cities in Metro Manila. Despite that, we continue to advance through the help and cooperation of organizations and companies such as Meralco,” Mayor John Rey Tiangco said.

“We hope that through this partnership, we will be able to provide more and better services to our constituents,” he added.

Ferdinand Alejandro, vice president and head of Home and Micro-Business-North Business Area of Meralco, appreciated the city’s Text JRT program, where constituents can reach the city government 24/7 and air their concerns, including those that involve Meralco services.

Alejandro said they can pinpoint at once the area of concern through the TextJRT.
