SM adds building to school in P’sinan

URDANETA, Pangasinan—The Anonas Elementary School in this city has received a brand new, two-storey four-classroom school building from SM Prime through SM Foundation.

The new school building comes fully furnished with 200 student armchairs including 40 special left-handed armchairs, four teacher’s desks, four wall fans, eight blackboards, four wall clocks and four washrooms. 

SM Foundation recognizes the need help close the gap of the quality of education between private and public schools by helping provide the proper environment that is conducive for learning. To date, the Foundation has donated 81 school buildings with 252 classrooms nationwide.

“Education is the greatest equalizer,” said Linda Atayde, SM Foundation Executive Director for Education Programs. “Having a prepared environment that is conducive for learning boosts the child’s creativity, independent thinking and absorptive capacity. Through these fully-furnished, well-ventilated classrooms, we hope to aid the child’s learning to be more productive, enjoyable and comfortable.”

“Anonas Elementary School has dedicated 14 teachers in giving endless learning opportunities to the pupils from Barangay Anonas and neighboring places such as Tulong, Yatyat, Cayambanan and Sumabnit in Binalonan,” said Glenda Peralta, school principal.

“Having new classrooms was our dream. Now the dream has become a reality,” added Peralta. “Thank you, SM Foundation, for making our dream come true. Truly it will be a great help in nurturing the young minds but also in catering the needs of our school children for the 21st century learning skills. Furthermore, it will also serve as evacuation center for the folks of Anonas during calamities.”
