UAAP board promises innovations

NEWLY introduced events, more nighttime games and use of the best venues available are in store in Season 80 of the University Athletic Association  of the Philippines.

Board member Anton Montinola of host Far Eastern University said these are in store for the league in the coming year.

They are all set to introduce 3×3 basketball and cheer dancing competitions for high school girls.

These two new events are expected to make the season more fan-friendly, and athlete-friendly, according Montinola, who is set to become the chairman of the UAAP board of management.

“We want to have a fan friendly 80th season. And that’s more interaction between fans and athletes,” Montinola said.

An star weekend for women’s volleyball is also in the works. That will be towards the end of the volleyball competitions next year.

On the other hand, night games are expected to bring in more fans.

And they will soon hold all games in beach volleyball and football matches in the evening.

Most of these games will be held at the Mall of Asia grounds, and venues where fans are expected to come and watch.

The coming season will carry the theme: “Go for Great.”
