Gunmen claim life of MPD cop in car

A Manila Police District policeman was shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen early Monday morning in Tondo, Manila.

The MPD identified the victim as PO2 Frederick Tolentino. He was driving his car along Quezon Street at around 2:30 a.m. when he was gunned down by two men on a motorcycle.

A second set of gunmen on another motorcycle then drove up and likewise opened fire on Tolentino, witnesses told investigators.  The suspects sped away towards Pacheco Street.

Tolentino had gunshot wounds in the neck, back and head. His car had four bullet holes on the windshield, and four more on the passenger side window. 

Last March, a policewoman was also gunned down inside her vehicle while driving along Recto Avenue, Manila.
