PH-bound PAL plane goes back to Sydney after flying for an hour

A Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight from Australia bound for the Philippines has returned to the airport in Sydney where it took off.

The plane had been flying for a hour after it made the turnaround.

PAL Spokesperson Cielo Villaluna confirmed the incident.

But she said, the plane did not make an emergency landing when it went back to Kingsford Smith airport.

The aircraft was carrying 218 passengers and 14 crew members.

Villaluna says, hotel accommodations have been provided to the stranded passengers.

She adds, some of them have been rebooked in other PAL flights and in other airlines.

Local reports in Sydney say, the airplane encountered problem in its retractable landing gear but PAL has not given any details on the cause of the glitch.
