Out of the 169 vehicles of the Nueva Vizcaya provincial government, only 31 or about 18.3 percent are marked “For Official Use Only” while four were registered as privately owned.

This was the observation made by the Commission on Audit in its 110-page audit report released on April 18.

CoA called the attention of the Provincial officials for failing to ensure that all of the province’s vehicles bear the required official markings.

It reminded the local government that using government-owned vehicles without official markings was a violation of CoA Circular No. 77-61 of 1977 or the Manual on Audit for Fuel Consumption of Government Motor Vehicles.

Under the circular, motor vehicles acquired with taxpayers’ money are required to bear “For Official Use Only” stickers at least three-inches high on both sides, with the identity of the government agency or public office also visible under the said mark.

CoA also found out that four newly purchased provincial vehicles acquired in 2015 and 2016 were registered as privately owned.
