CLOSE to 300 kids showed up on the first day of the Alaska Basketball Powercamp 2017 at the Ateneo de Manila College Covered Courts in Quezon City.

This was among the big reasons why camp director Jeffrey Cariaso was excited that Wednesday morning.

“It’s something to be happy about. Last year, umabot lang kami ng 200,” said Cariaso.

The 10-day camp is the start of seven leg series this summer.

Other legs will also be held in Subic Bay, Olongapo, Lucena and Quezon.

The fourth leg is in Tanauan, Batangas and then to Baguio City, Bacolod and Cebu.

“This is about having a continued development in their skills training,” added Cariaso after seeing last year’s campers to this year’s event.

Campers from 6 to 18 years old are taught dribbling, shooting, side stepping, passing and tossing.
