Victor Consunji: Living the life

A real estate mogul, an adventure traveler, a seasoned athlete whose achievements include being the first Filipino to run the North Pole marathon, Victor Consunji Jr., wears many hats, of which the biggest is his hat as a husband to wife Maggie and father to 7-year-old son Connor.

Yet, still, he gets to wear them all; he always finds time for things that are important.

Aside from being a board member of the mega construction company DMCI, Consunji has also set up his own construction and development enterprise, the VConsunji Group. His company’s biggest and most ambitious project so far is the M Residences, whose design was inspired by his travels and experiences as a family man and engineer.

“We provide homes to bridge the gap between work, family, and life in general. Living inside the city is very challenging; you deal with traffic, high cost of living, and the ever progressing march towards miniaturization of living spaces. I provide real homes and the means to acquire them,” says the 40-year-old entrepreneur.

Running one of the biggest development companies in the country is a feat, yet Consunji always manages to find time for his wife and son. Together, he relates, his family shares a passion for sports and explores as many places as they can together.

“Family time is important; little things matter. And I give them (family activities) the same or higher priority, as work meetings. I will not push off family time for other matters,” he shares.

Consunji says, as a family man, he has to strike a balance between family and work, and also find time for himself.

“A balance is needed, or else you risk personal disaster. My personal view is to make sure I give all three parts of my life as much attention as I can. I feel that when you can satisfy all three, you live a life less stressful, more hopeful and, ultimately, happy.”

Above all, for Consunji, being a father is the greatest source of achievement, pride, and inspiration. Fatherhood has further reinforced the importance of time.

For fathers like Consunji who truly value time and want to spend as much of it with family while pursuing their career and other passions, a dependable wristwatch like the new TechnoMarine Grand Cruise—with Swiss components and an automatic movement—is just the right tool that helps him keep track of all that time in style.
