50 works of young artists in a traveling exhibit

Fifty best works made by young Filipino visual artists are currently exhibited across the country.

The works of young artists who won in the National Students’ Traveling Art Exhibition are displayed across the country. 

The Philippine Art Educators’ Association, a non-government organization created to promote education through the arts and culture in schools and other institutions, in collaboration with the Cultural Center of the Philippines, launched the National Students’ Traveling Art Exhibition themed “Buhay Katutubo.”

The exhibit features the winners of the competition, which highlighted the beauty of the country’s indigenous race.

The top 50 entries chosen from over 300 artworks from different national academic institutions are currently mounted and exhibited in various galleries, museums, and partner schools across the country.

Notable submissions are from Regino Abiño Jr. from Statesfields School Cavite; Vren Protacio from St. Mary’s Academy, Sta. Ana Manila: Rudy Cuecaco Jr. II from Lyceum of Aparri, Cagayan; Vivien Premistra from Antipolo Lady of Lourdes School; Kamila Piansay from St. Mary’s Academy Pasay City; and Pontillas Ussiah, Hannah Iguas, and Jeffry Cabilogan from Marsman National High School, Davao del Norte.

Of note, nine out of the Top 50 shortlisted works were from the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, namely, “Malakas at Maganda” by Pamela Madlangbayan, “Kasiyahan” by Mark Cedrix Lopez, “Kulay ng Kultura’ by Justine Torregoza, “Habi ng Tela” by Bea Canete, “Weaving Together Ideas” by Louis Miguel Moldez, “Tahanan” by Isabelle Louis Garcia, “Dream Weaver” by Beatrice Cadiz, “Kagalakan at Kasiyahan” by Bart Mocorro, and “Tandang Pananong” by Mitzi Comia.

The Benildeans are part of the Philippine Art & Design classes under their mentor Jerome Asuncion, an active member of the International Society of Education through Arts, and the former executive director of the UP Art Educators’ Society.
