Two companies promote animal well-being and encourage responsible pet ownership. Improving the health and wellness of animals does not only mean developing innovative treatments and products but also involves actively engaging various stakeholders.

Bayer Animal Health promoted animal well-being through a series of pet-friendly initiatives for the company’s employees and external partners.

The company’s employees visited and volunteered at the Compassion and Responsibility for Animals Welfare Philippines shelter in Mandaluyong City. CARA Welfare Philippines is a non-profit, non-government organization that is run by a dedicated group of animal lovers determined to help the plight of animals in the Philippines.

“We are passionate about caring for animals and we treat them as an integral part of the community,” said Ma. Soccoro Mendoza, country division head of Animal Health. “Through our Animal Well-being initiatives, we promote the advocacy and support organizations that share our passion for the overall health and well-being of animals.”

The team also joined The Animal Kingdom Foundation Run Fur Life held at Eton Centris, Quezon City. It was attended by over 800 “hoomans” and over 300 dogs.

Bayer employees ran with their furbabies as Animal Well-being Advocates. After the run, a free Advantix spot-on drive was sponsored by Bayer.

Lastly, the firm had “The Bring Your Pets to Work Day,” at Bayer House in Canlubang, Laguna, during which Bayer employees from the different business groups participated and brought their pets for a day of fun and one-of-a-kind bonding activity. Pets were treated to a pet wellness seminar, pet blessing, free grooming session, and a photo opportunity for pets and pet parents.

Promoting responsible pet ownership

Ganador Premium high-quality dog food recently supported the “Pet Ko, Luv Ko” project of the local government of Mandaluyong City at the A.T. Reyes Garden, City Hall, Compound.

The project was implemented by Mandaluyong City in a bid to promote responsible pet ownership among its constituents. The activity gathered more than 700 dog and cat owners, giving them better access to animal services such as spaying and neutering as well as opportunities to adopt pets. It also strengthened public safety and security through free rabies vaccination and dry grooming.

According to Charisse Abalos-Vargas, Mandaluyong City Councilor and founder of the project, a codified ordinance on responsible pet ownership is now underway in their local government.

“I’m glad that every year more and more people are showing their interest and intent of participating in making the change happen,” she added.

Ganador provided free products as well as information dissemination on responsible pet ownership during the event.
