A sustainable energy advocate, Jacque Kwen Buskowitz’s job as a business development manager for a solar company allows her to touch base with areas all over the Philippines to talk about the cost-effective benefits of going solar.
Although she often receives compliments about her beauty, Buskowitz is always quick to keep people aware of her environmental advocacy, reminding people around her that beauty goes beyond skin-deep.
Danie Laurel, on the other hand, is a finance expert, news anchor, and ambassador for education and responsible voting.
With PhD in Finance and being a finance lecturer and TV host has helped Laurel prove that women can excel in men-dominated fields. While women are often gauged based on their beauty, she asserts that the best way to combat this is to simply “Break the stereotype [and have] more things than a pretty face. You break the stereotype of beauty by really having a genuine interest and cultivating things other than your physical appearance.”
Finally, Marge Gutierrez is the vice president of the Professional Models Association of the Philippines. But more than a former professional model, she is a lawyer specializing in corporate housekeeping, compliance in real estate, and immigration.
Her dual role as a lawyer and PMAP officer allows Gutierrez to positively affect the lives of those around her, taking on powerful positions to defend people’s rights. “’Beauty with a plus’ for me is being a woman of substance, a woman of power, and someone who is a positive influence to the people around her. She’s a woman who knows what she wants and gets it done.” She believes “Women nowadays can be beautiful and smart.”
