Younger by a thread

“The natural aging process is inevitable. From around the age of 25, the first signs of aging start to become apparent on the surface of the skin. Fine lines appear first, then wrinkles, followed by loss of volume and elasticity over time.”

These are the natural effects of aging, according Dr. Jaime “Bong” Arzadon, section chief of facial plastic surgery of the Department of Otolaryngology at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center.

When the skin sags over time, Dr. Bong said it is possible to slow down time through the newest cosmetic procedure available today—threads, which “can pull the sagging skin thus lifting it and can also provide definition or contouring of the face.”

Dubbed Happy Lift, the thread lifting, aesthetic procedure lifts and realigns sagging tissue, while adding definition to facial contours by using threads that are made of poly-L-lactic acid and caprolactone, a unique patented bio-absorbable thread that gives immediate facial lifting without the cut.

How it works

The procedure takes 30-45 minutes, and requires very short downtime as no facial cutting is involved. Happy Lift Revitalizing Threads support tissue after the insertion under the skin. The sutures interact with the facial skin tissues with an immediate lifting action, thanks to the mechanical action, along with sustained lifting through revitalizing action stimulating synthesis of collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin.

The revitalizing threads are absorbable, monofilament, and suspension barbed that lock themselves into place once inserted, explained Charina Morales, senior brand manager of Relife, which offers the Happy Lift technology in the Philippines.

“With Happy Lift, you would only need two threads to lift sagging facial tissues for a fresh, younger looking face. The barbs on the threads provide the immediate mechanical pull. The threads themselves are made of poly-L-lactic acid and caprolactone which make take a maximum of 18 months to be absorbed by the body, resulting to longer-lasting effects of almost one and half years,” explained Morales.

She added, “The treatment also offers biostimulation, so the effect lasts longer.”

As such, Happy Lift provides an effective face lifting, with an immediate facial reshaping and lasting facial-lifting result, an effective outcome for the patients with sagging skin.

Relife said younger adults can also try the procedure to achieve a contoured effect for a more defined facial shape.

Who have tried it

Multi-awarded actresses Giselle Sanchez and Angelu De Leon-Rivera, and fitness instructor, licensed nutritionist, and part-time runway model Bench Ortiz have tried Happy Lift and achieved impressive results.

Sanchez shared she was already starting to see “marionette lines” around her mouth area, and Happy Lift was able to give the results she wanted. “I was relaxed for the entire procedure that took only 45 minutes.”

Meanwhile, De Leon-Rivera said that what she likes best about Happy Lift is that it looks natural. She said, “It didn’t change my natural features which. You just look fresh, blooming, and happy!”

For Ortiz, the procedure gave him a coveted V-shaped face, like the ones that Korean idols have.
